Welcome to Fishing Prairie and Shield

The Blogs

Here in Fishing Prairie and Shield, I will be writing about my fishing experiences to provide entertainment and education.

I am based out of Manitoba, Canada, where the prairie landscape transitions to the rocky Canadian Shield. There are many unique angling opportunities with a wide variety of fish species. Nearby are the provinces of Ontario and Saskatchewan as well as the state of Minnesota where even more opportunities exist.

As a passionate angler, I always read magazines and blogs since I was young. Like all anglers, I dreamed of becoming famous someday. I’ve tried video making and social media in the past. However writing is something I felt like I excelled at. So eventually I settled on blogging to become my way to share my passion. I hope writing about my experiences help someone out there looking for advice or a good read about fishing and the outdoors.

In addition to blogging, I enjoy making a few videos here and there. It is a lot of work but capturing the effort of fishing is always a pleasant feeling.

Over time the point where the tongue and bed connect gradually corrode and loosen preventing good ground continuity. Thankfully there are a few solutions to this. One way to just to create a simple jumper cable between the tongue and bed. Definitely an easy task to try if you're trying to troubleshoot your trailer light issues. ... See MoreSee Less

So I recently had a pole in my ice shack split while setting up. Still was usable for the meantime but it wouldn't be pleasant to potentially get a flying fiberglass splinter. Could potentially tape it but I decided to fix it properly. After searching online, I found that driveway markers had similar diameter and flex as the shelter poles. I cut the marker to the same length and successfully replaced the broken one. All for about $10. Will have to see this works out long-term but it does seem pretty promising. ... See MoreSee Less
