Welcome to Fishing Prairie and Shield

The Blogs

Here in Fishing Prairie and Shield, I will be writing about my fishing experiences to provide entertainment and education.

I am based out of Manitoba, Canada, where the prairie landscape transitions to the rocky Canadian Shield. There are many unique angling opportunities with a wide variety of fish species. Nearby are the provinces of Ontario and Saskatchewan as well as the state of Minnesota where even more opportunities exist.

As a passionate angler, I always read magazines and blogs since I was young. Like all anglers, I dreamed of becoming famous someday. I’ve tried video making and social media in the past. However writing is something I felt like I excelled at. So eventually I settled on blogging to become my way to share my passion. I hope writing about my experiences help someone out there looking for advice or a good read about fishing and the outdoors.

In addition to blogging, I enjoy making a few videos here and there. It is a lot of work but capturing the effort of fishing is always a pleasant feeling.

Another ice fishing season comes to an end. Manitoba may be best known for Lake Winnipeg but there are tons of other great fisheries for other species within a reasonable driving distance. Time to put away the ice gear and start prepping the boat. ... See MoreSee Less
